Scrapbooking in Southern Cali

Having lived in southern Cali all my life.. I have lived and loved by the ocean.. I am a natural mermaid (ie. water lover) and can always find peace of mind in or around the ocean.  When I was a wee lass of 12, I went back east on a summer vacation with my Dad.  Low and behold, my life was enriched with the Amazing world Scrapbooking from my dear Aunt Becky (born 1911), she shared with me all her dearest treasured memories in a beautifully engraved, leather bound Scrapbook.  In it's illustrious black pages, she filled it with dance cards, corsages, black and white photos held in place with photo corners and her written memories & trinkets of fun, happy, sad, and momentous days of her life.  I was taken aback with the wonder of keeping these ever so personal memories to cherish yourself and to show future family members how you lived and who you were.  I often think anything past 2 generations is lost to history or faded memories if you can find anyone still alive.  It was truly wonderful to find a personalized peace of my families memories where I could see from a loved ones perspective what it was like to be born in the early 1900's and live in the 20's, 30's, 40's and 50's.. My Aunt Becky taught me so much, I wish I could of lived with her for awhile to get to know more about our family.  She passed over 35 years ago, but her memories along with that of her brother (my Dad) will always be in my thoughts and heart.  I felt it was my responsibility to my children, my love of history and family memories that kept me intrigued with writing, photographing and memorializing all my family history the last 35 years.  Keeping all that was near and dear to me as well as the history of our family alive in my scrapbooking.. All through high school, working, college, loves in my life, 2 marriages, 4 babies and 5 grandbabies :)  I have learned alot in my 47 years on this fabulous place called earth and I am very thankful for all the memories and lessons that I have had the opportunity to experience.  But, scrapbooking is so much more then just keeping family history, it's about evolving, learning, and sharing who YOU are.. I am a photographer, writer, novice poet and fairly crafty person.  I have taken all these things and used them in my scrapbooking, as well as learning from other Scrapbook Artists and borrowing ideas from their styles as well..

So, hopefully this gives you a little bit of information about a dear and old passion I have had.. It has given me knew friends, kept old friends, fun times on ships, new places and old, girl time to talk and catch up as well as listen and learn.

Attached are some various styles of several SB Artists (including some of mine)
